The University of Oklahoma LGBT Alumni Society is delighted to welcome applications for its annual scholarship competition!

Scholarship funds will be awarded to one or more University of Oklahoma students to assist in defraying the costs of serving in a summer internship related to LGBT advocacy. The Society will distribute a total of $5,000 in cash and tuition waivers* among the applicants.

Award recipients will need to participate in an internship related to LGBT advocacy for at least 6 weeks in summer 2017. Applicants do not need to have secured an internship before applying but should begin searching and applying for internships now. Applicants are responsible for finding placement in an internship; while the Society will provide guidance to scholarship recipients, we cannot guarantee placement.

The Society’s Scholarship Committee must approve each recipient’s internship for its relevance to LGBT advocacy before funds are disbursed.

Any enrolled OU student graduating later than May 2017 is welcome to apply. The sexual orientation and gender identity of applicants will not be considered in the selection process.

EXTENDED DEADLINE: Friday, February 3, 2017, at 5:00 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST).

*Each award will be equal parts cash and tuition waivers, though the tuition waiver portion will only be available to students who arrange academic internship credit for their summer program. The tuition waiver can be applied to any subsequent academic term at the University. Planned Programs students are not eligible for the waiver. Ineligibility for the tuition waiver will not preclude an applicant from consideration for the award. Check with your academic department to determine whether you are eligible for the tuition waiver.
